You may notice that the value of some cryptocurrencies does not change, even if the market is moving.
This mainly applies to markets with lower activity.
What is happening?
On NBX, your portfolio value is based on the last executed trade in the market.
If no trades have occurred recently:
- the last price will not update
- and therefore your portfolio value will remain unchanged
Is there still an updated price?
Yes. Even if your portfolio value appears static, the order book is updated continuously.
This means:
- you can always see what buyers and sellers are willing to pay
- you can trade at the current market level
- the market is still active, even without recent trades
Why does this happen more often in smaller markets?
Cryptocurrencies with lower trading volume tend to have:
- fewer trades
- longer time between transactions
This can cause the displayed value to remain unchanged for periods of time.
In short
- Portfolio value = last executed trade
- No trades = no updated value
- The order book always reflects the current market level
Important
This is normal for low-activity markets and does not indicate any issue with your account or the platform.
